The very foundation of the world’s oceans and sea is marine phytoplankton. It is microscopic, a single cell aquatic organism with a history in excess of three billion years. If you go swimming you will not see any but you can be sure it is there. The largest creatures in the oceans, even up to the blue whale, take huge gulps of water, filtering out the water itself but retaining the phytoplankton. Without it, the seas would not be able to sustain any life at all.
While it is microscopic, when “blooms” of phytoplankton form, they do so in numbers that are difficult to comprehend, trillions, and those “blooms” can even be seen from space. Those “blooms” are toxic and you will not see any sea creature eating within it, and gradually the “bloom” will die out.
Talking of space, there are plans to use phytoplankton there both as a food but also because it is able to convert the carbon dioxide expelled during breathing into organic substances that are harmless.
There are different kinds of phytoplankton, some originating on shallow coastlines and continental shelves, others at the equator etc. Although they can only be seen under a microscope, you should believe that they come in different shapes and sizes. Research into marine phytoplankton has got us to the stage where it can benefit mankind, just as it has marine life.

You may ask how it can achieve all these benefits? Well, high in nutrition, it is easily absorbed and for vegans, there is good news. Marine phytoplankton is vegan friendly so vegans looking for something to boost their health can consume this product in supplement form the same as everyone else. If there is anything that truly deserves the description that use “wonder” in its title, it is marine phytoplankton.
